Jonathan and I managed to sneak off to the coast last weekend. (Many, many thanks to my generous sister and brother-in-law, who came to stay with Katie while we were gone). It was the first time we’d been away from her overnight, and it was wonderful to spend a few days together, just the two of us. We stayed at a lovely bed and breakfast, enjoyed each other’s company, and reveled in the beauty of creation.

An added bonus: Katie did really well with Uncle Michael and Aunt Steph. They rode on a train, played at the park, and went swimming – having far more fun than she would have had on a regular weekend.

This is probably only funny to fellow grammar nerds, but I’ve had a number of lapses in rational/coherent thought lately which I blame solely on pregnant brain. It’s a real thing, an unfortunate fact of life, so I figure it’s better to laugh at it (and take advantage of it!) than it is to bemoan my apparent loss of brain cells.

{Real}

We were reading Oh, the Places You’ll Go the other day when we came to this page. Katie pointed to the baby carriage and said, “Abby!” She’s known for some time that her baby sister is “hiding” in Mama’s tummy, and we’ve tried to relate care of Abigail to care of her dolls, but without a tangible child for her to see, we weren’t sure how much she was understanding. It’s fun to see that there’s at least some level of comprehension there.

And, speaking of “real,” the fact that I will have a newborn in just seven weeks (give or take) is becoming more and more of a reality. This little kid is active, and it’s incredibly awe-inspiring to think there’s a person in there, with a unique soul and personality and genetic makeup. I’m excited to meet her.

Those are the {pretty, happy, funny, real} moments around here this week.How about you? Head on over to Like Mother, Like Daughter or leave a comment here and share the contentment you captured this week!

    The coast looks like a beautiful location for a weekend away. I no longer have pregnancy brain, just mommy brain. I find it hard to get full sentences out anymore and am even struggling with the right words. That is so cute about the connection your little girl made with the illustration.

      It was a lovely getaway. And mommy brain is definitely a thing, too!

      Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
