Worthwhile Weekend Words

It has been far too long since I offered an edition of Worthwhile Weekend Words. My apologies. But I do have some good ones (even if some are a few weeks old!) for you today:

Have you seen this piece over at The Atlantic regarding the harm that the “trigger warning” and “microagression” culture is doing to college students today? Fascinating (albeit long) read about the subject.

I loved this story about the things toddlers say and the ways we react and everything that goes along with it. Katie’s not quite to the age where we’ve had this particular thing happen yet, but I’m sure it’s in our future. The ending – the ending makes it.

The homey, beautiful, reflective feel of this post about tomatoes and pet peeves and farmers’ markets and the good things in life had me craving a caprese salad. Lovely writing, here.

This is a wonderful reflection on our true source of hope, in a world that seems to be utterly devoid of it: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.

A few weeks ago, I started my own post on what’s happening in Syria, but I found myself at a loss for words. Still, I kept coming back to it, trying to wrangle my thoughts into something worth sharing. Then I read Addie’s post, and stopped trying: she said so much of what I was wanting to say, only she said it more beautifully than I would have.

And finally, because I pretty much love every single thing that Addie writes, there’s this one, too. I never read the Christy Miller books, but oh, how I loved the closing paragraphs of this post.

How about you? Read anything good lately?

Thank you so much for the shout-out! I’m so humbled. And I read that one about the Christy Miller books and LOVED it. I never read them either, but it didn’t matter because Addie’s writing is so good.
