{Pretty}

After nearly two weeks of rain, blue skies made a grand appearance. The weather for the past few days has been as lovely as it gets, and there’s something about the warmth of the sun on your skin that makes you feel glorious and wonderful and alive. I am ever so grateful for the promise of Spring and the way the world slowly awakens after the cold and the wet: the trill of the birds, the bright happiness of the daffodils, the buds on the trees. And also this: that I live in a place where a walk allows me to enjoy the beauty of nature, the fun of a hand-painted speed limit sign, the whimsy of a decorated mailbox. There is beauty all around us if only we take the time to look.

{Happy}

This dog and this girl (and this girl’s dad, not pictured here) – they make me happy. As does their joy in being outdoors together. Euclid bounces around the house whenever he hears the word “walk,” and Katie always brings a friend so that she can share the fun of seeing the horses – the “neigh-neighs!” – with it.

{Funny}

Katie has taken to carrying her purse – her “puse” – around the house and to the grocery store and to BSF and to anywhere else we might be headed. She often grabs BaaBaa to accompany her, places her helmet (sometimes backwards) on her head, and trudges down the hall with purpose.  When I ask her where she’s headed, she responds with a definitive, “Shop!” Sometimes, I’ll remind her that she needs shoes to go to the store (we’ll address the pajamas later), so she’ll find them in her room and attempt to put them on.

{Real}

Ugh. Ants. Everywhere, ants. In the bathroom, in the kitchen, in the pantry – but these traps seem to be doing the trick.

The funniest part about the ants is Katie’s reaction to them. She’s an ant hunter, that one. One of her first (self-appointed) tasks in the morning is to head to the pantry, where she carefully inspects the floor for insects. If she finds any, she comes to me, all excitement, and proclaims, “Ick! Ick! Ick!” until I follow her with the central vacuum cleaner and suck them all up.

Those are the {pretty, happy, funny, real} moments around here this week.How about you? Head on over to Like Mother, Like Daughter or leave a comment here and share the contentment you captured this week!

    Those Terro traps really are the best – we’ve had to use them indoors and outdoors and they work like a charm! Now if only they didn’t need to be a constant staple in our house 🙁

      I hear you! They’ve worked really well so far – and they were highly rated on Amazon. But man, how I wish we didn’t need them.

    Your pretty pictures and paragraph are truly beautiful. I like your attitude. We’re having ants already, too. That is the only downside to an early spring.

      Thank you, Jenny! The Terro traps worked wonders for us – maybe they’d help you, too?

    Glad to see you posting again, Jenn! Great pictures, as usual. I love Katie’s going out outfit.

      Thanks, Amber! I love it, too. I’m already missing this stage, and she’s still smack dab in the middle of it.
